If we want to talk about how Phit phuel got started we have to take it back to my time in San Antonio.
I moved out there in 2011 when I had just turned 21. I lived out there for 3 years. In that time I went through what people like to call the struggle. Part of it was my lifelong nemesis, my weight paired with not making much money to make ends meet. That’s when I discovered Meal Prep. I was not only taking care of my weight and health, but also I found a way to budget my money and making my food a priority for survival. I would Cook every Sunday and I would post on social media every time to show my consistency(I never skipped a Sunday) In fact I stayed so consistent with it that my following started to be from people that didn’t know me but were behind what it was that I was doing. I then moved back to El Paso May 2014. My plan was and always was to take over my dads tire company. It was obvious since I had worked there since I was 12 years old. Life however had a different plan for me. I was naive to think at the time that somehow my father was just going to hand over the company because I felt I had “proven” myself out there. So after 2 weeks of working with him I was still making my meals every Sunday. People then started asking me since you’re in town now would you consider making my meals too? Those questions stuck with me and they lingered. Then one Sunday after making my meals I decided to post my usual picture but this time I said I was taking orders. The rest as they say is history, or as I like to call it HIStory.
The thought process behind creating a new meal has been pretty simple to us to be quite honest. We stay true to what it is our mission is. Part of that mission is to be a healthy meal prep. We know others stray away from it and start making meals that will have you question if the meal is even healthy at this point. We take a look at what we have as far as protein sources, veggies and sides we are currently using. Then from there we decide what we can make with all that. For example our Nashville hot chicken. The original recipe calls for frying oil and brown sugar. We wanted to add it to our menu and we simply used ingredients like olive oil to replace the frying oil, and after about 10 different recipes we landed on the one we currently sell. We have found when a meal takes this long thought out process, it usually is an instant hit and client favorite, which is what that one became.
When it comes to transformations and changes with our clients I’m sure there’s been many. There’s no way I can say how many or that I know a full story of specific clients. However what I do know for certain is that we are transforming the way people think about food, health and taking full advantage of their time by knowing they have a quick healthy meal ready to eat at any time. We are making peoples lives more efficient. Making them want to do more in a day, which in consequence makes them more productive and ultimately making them reach their goals faster. To me, those transformations alone I not only see, but also gets me excited to know we are a big part of what the future looks like.
When it comes to the business, it’s taken me a lot of work on my personal self. I’ve come to realize that the business and I are one. If I start slacking on my personal life, the business takes a dip. Each year I get more intense. My diet, workouts and productivity levels continually keep elevating to the next level just so that I can keep up with the business since it as well keeps getting more ínstense and constantly evolving. The moment I realized this is my identity, my livelihood, my journey; that’s what keeps me leveled. Constantly living on the edge.
I’ve always told people to look at us as a tool. It’s a great tool to use if you are trying to change your diet for the better, get to a certain weight or anything else that involves your well being. I also tell my clients that cooking their meals themselves is more affordable than buying from us. However that’s not the only price they pay. They must put a value on their time. You still have to spend time grocery shopping, prepping, cooking, portioning and cleaning. If you have that time to spare by all means Cook them yourself. But if you are like our clients, you will find time is the most valuable asset and if that is plugged into the equation, then this tool we offer definitely comes out to be the best investment for your health and time.
